Abilities Edit

Mark possesses no special powers, no abilities. He is human, but in his field of work he is often seen as a wizard. Perhaps the most sought after Software Engineer for private enterprises in the ESU, he is also a 'White Hat' hacker with a specialization in phreaking and penetrating tests, but make no mistake, he can don the Black Hat at a moment's notice, especially when corporate corruption is found. He then turns into the Blue Destroyer, the infamous hacker who left his graffiti mark on the communications giant Poole Telesoft when he discovered that they were selling their customers' information to the old United States Government, violating wire tap laws. The mark "HACKED BY BLUE DESTROYER" was up on their website for several hours following aggressive DDOS attacks, and also penetrated their entire company wide network, costing Poole Telesoft nearly a billion dollars in lost man hours and production, as well as public outcry from its customers.

Biological Profile Edit

Appearance Edit

Mark is an average guy. Since he's a little on the nerdy side he typically doesn't turn heads, especially when he's wearing his glasses. Tall, about 6 feet, and on the muscular side but still the soft teddy bear type, he has dark brown hair and vibrantly piercing sapphire blue eyes. Archer's eyes are stern, yet his smile is nice, pleasant and even warm. He could easily be mistaken for the boy next door that often goes unnoticed.

Personal Belongings Edit

A coin, given to him by his grandfather. It's a silver mercury head dime from the 40's. Mark considers it a luck charm.

Personality Edit

He might be a tech nerd, but he's certainly not the nerdy type in attitude. Mark's got a streak of confidence that makes him hold his shoulders squared; but he's certainly not arrogant or overly assertive. Never a shy, bumble-y type, he's just more of the type to keep quiet and assess his options before making a move -- whether it be in his career path or with women. Archer has a secret -- a wild, adventurous streak runs through him, specifically when it comes to women - and given the right circumstances he's up for anything.

History Edit

A MIT grad; he advanced faster than most his age even in that tough curriculum. Despite his terrible disorganization, he was able to keep everything pretty much in his head, and if he were asked about his classes at the time (which he doubled up on, sometimes tripled his schedule in order to graduate faster), he would have said "what a breeze!". Mark is the quintessential prodigy when it comes to all things involving computers, networking and even telephone/wireless communications.

In his attendance at MIT, he met a variety of friends, some fell by the wayside as far as keeping touch with them, but he'd always managed to keep track of one friend in particular. Alistair Greene may not have been the same major as he, but when the two met, it seemed like they were just destined to become good friends, if not the best of friends. There was an implicit trust, and Greene quickly became the brother that Mark never had. Archer has no siblings.

When he hacked Poole Telecom, Mark told Alistair about it. Knowing that Greene would sit on that information, he trusts him implicitly with that secret, and even from time to time seeks out his help with hardware that will help him defeat the more and more sophisticated systems he white hat or black hat hacks.

His second major 'black hat hack' occurred when Mark was testing the Department of Defense firmware firewalls, when he penetrated the Defense department's computer systems and found himself looking at some classified documents about a project code named 'Frozen Vault', in which samples of ancient viruses were found in sea-ice cores and then subsequently weaponized. Here, Mark stole copies of the information; and kept to himself about it since the weaponization of viruses wasn't too uncommon a practice in that day by the old United States' more clandestine departments. These particular bits of data fascinated him for some reason. He wouldn't know it then, but his finding the files and stealing them would be foreshadowing the events of December 21st, 2013 several weeks later.

When the Shift occurred; Mark would only dimly realize the potential for those weaponized viruses, when in Chicago (ironically where that lab was) was overtaken by the three super viruses. The Z-virus was the most prolific, and spread like wild fire among the dense population. Archer found it hard to imagine that Frozen Vault would be responsible for that, but logic would dictate that perhaps the changes and chaos that the Shift brought served to mutate those viruses along with the meta humans and meta animals. Never would he imagine that the government would do the things that it did. And he was horrified to see that in the subsequent months that Chicago was bombed in a last ditch effort to contain the viruses - particularly the Z-virus which by then had devastated the inner city.

Mark has yet to tell anyone this information, not till he's sure that the old government is indeed guilty of manipulating the viruses from the ancient world and bringing the three plagues upon the population. Besides, it wouldn't matter much because the old US Government is gone, and most of the people responsible are in hiding or long dead. He has also been considering hacking Genomorph Labs in order to find out their involvement since they were under government contract. So far, he's just been sitting on this information, fearful of what he might find out, but fearful to not do anything at all.

Soon after the shift though, it became quite apparent that he was one of the majority of humans that would not have been 'given' any special abilities. No, he was still stuck with his raw talent for hacking. And when he found out about Alistair becoming a magus, he had a bit of a jealous streak hit him, even if he was happy for his friend's success.
